Sacred Geometry in Astrology

An idea about astrology has been gradually making it's way back into the mainstream astrological community for a long time.  It began long before there was Sun Sign Astrology. There was a time in astrology when every astrologer created charts completely by hand.  Astrologers looked in books that told them where planets were located.  Aspect calculations were then made by hand.  Once computers became available, astrology software made the calculations and creation of a chart became much easier.  Computers also made it possible to easily store data and track what worked in astrology and what did not.

I have had some issue with Sun Sign Astrology.  How could I be exactly like 625 million other people.  (7.5 billion people in the world divided by 12 signs of the zodiac.)  I have a natural curiosity about things.  When I began digging deeper into astrology I discovered why I had a problem with Sun Sign Astrology, but that is a topic for another post!

One thing I will talk about right now, though, is aspects between planets (asteroids and fixed stars too) based on a circle.  Aspects between planets are personalized into geometric patterns in your birth chart. Did you know that your birth chart is as unique as you??  Geometry is everywhere and the sky above is no different!! Planets, asteroids and fixed stars all form beautiful patterns as they connect and harmonize together in the sky and in your birth chart!  The day of your birth is special to you!

Each geometric pattern is a harmony and each harmony means something.  These harmonies can give us ideas about our personality traits and the individual gifts we have received from God.  The geometry of the planets, asteroids, and fixed starts at the time of our birth individual birth is as unique as a snowflake.

Rather than 7.5 billion people all trying to fit themselves into one of the 12 signs of the Zodiac, each of the 7.5 billion people on Earth have unique birth chart.  All the aspects and geometric patterns between the planets, asteroids, and fixed stars tell a unique and complex story of who we are!!

Below are four very simple geometric aspect pattern examples you are probably already familiar with, just to give you an idea.  There are so many possibilities!  We are all complex human beings and the geometric patterns in our natal chart reflect our special uniqueness!

1. This geometric aspect pattern is often called a GRAND TRINE.  It is comprised of three planets and three sides.  Each side represents ONE aspect called a TRINE.  A trine harmoniously combines the energies of two planets about 120 degrees apart, but not more than three degrees off.  A 360 degree circle is divided into three trines.  The GRAND TRINE represents a gift from God, a talent, or an opportunity, but it still takes work.  The GRAND TRINE harmoniously combines the symbolism of the three planets represented together.
2.  The geometric aspect pattern below is sometimes called a GRAND CROSS or a GRAND SQUARE.  It is comprised of four planets and four sides.  Each side represents ONE aspect of the GRAND SQUARE called a SQUARE and each line of the GRAND CROSS represents another aspect called an OPPOSITION.  The SQUARE aspect works to combine the energies of two planets at about 90 degrees apart, but not more than three degrees off.  The OPPOSITION aspect works to combine the energies two planets that are about 180 degrees apart (across from one another), but not more than three degrees off.  A 360 degree circle is divided into four squares. The GRAND SQUARE provides the possibility to attain great success, although it will likely require the native to forge through many difficulties as one is challenged by the GRAND SQUARE to pull together the energies of the four planets involved.
3. The geometric aspect pattern below is usually referred to as a YOD, but some people also call it the Finger of God.  It is comprised of three planets and three sides.  The aspect of the two longer green sides are each called a quincunx (also called an inconjunct) and are each about 150 degrees of the 360 degree circle, but not more than three degrees off.  The short blue side is called a sextile and is about 60 degrees of the 360 degree circle, but not more than three degrees off.  The two green quincunx sides of the triangle work to become consciously connected through lots of questions before they will combine with the more harmonious blue sextile side of the triangle.  Once this happens the YOD will combine the energies all three planets in the triangle and create what God has planned!
4.  The geometric aspect pattern below is sometimes referred to as a MYSTICAL TEACHING TRIANGLE.  It is comprised of three planets and three sides.  The red SQUARE aspect side is two planets that are about 90 degrees apart, but not more than three degrees off.  The longer green aspect side is called a quincunx (also called an inconjunct) and is about 150 degrees of the 360 degree circle, but not more than three degrees off.  A blue TRINE aspect side is two planets that are about 120 degrees apart, but not more than three degrees off.  A MYSTICAL TEACHING TRIANGLE combines the tenseness of the square, the harmony of the trine, and the disconnect of the quincunx providing a great learning opportunity for the native to grow in confidence and bring the mystery into form!
